KASA-YU, May 20, 2025 - Yeshiva University marked a historic and joyful moment as it held its Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremony, celebrating the achievements of graduating students; among them, the proud and inspiring members of the Katz African Students Association (KASA).
A particularly special highlight was the selection of Adebanke, former President of KASA, as the Student Commencement Speaker. Her powerful address resonated deeply across the university community.
“We are not just graduates, we are torchbearers,” she declared. “Torchbearers of vision, of diversity, of resilience, and of responsibility. KASA taught me the strength of unity and the beauty of representation.”
Her speech was met with a standing ovation, as she acknowledged her African heritage, the support of fellow KASA members, and the collective journey of international students navigating life, academics, and leadership in a foreign land.
The ceremony also honored an outstanding group of KASA graduands, students from programs such as Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, A.I, Biotech and more - who walked the stage with pride and elegance, cheered on by friends, faculty, and their KASA family.
“Watching Adebanke speak and seeing our members graduate was surreal - a full-circle moment for all of us,”
said Joy Awoleye, KASA Gen., Secretary.
“Today, KASA stood out, not just in numbers, but in excellence,”
added Elijah Laticbe, one of the proud KASA graduates.
The 2025 graduating class stands as a reflection of KASA’s values, leadership, cultural pride, academic success, and unity - and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
